What is the Lou Sobh Amphitheater?
According to the City Center’s amphitheater and reflection pond page, the open-air venue has five tiers of grassy terrace seating, bar seating on the top tier and a 2,227-square-foot covered stage. The stage sits across from a reflecting pond with a walkable bridge. The City’s plan for the district places the amphitheater beside that reflection pool, among about 117,000 square feet of retail space, a fountain ringed by personalized bricks, pocket parks, a putting course and boardwalks over the Kelly Mill Branch wetlands.
Neither page publishes a seat count or lawn capacity. The terraces are grass, so bring your own seat.
What can you bring, and what is banned?
These rules come from the Concerts and Entertainment section of the City Center’s Visit Us page, and each show listing repeats them.
- Bring: lawn chairs or blankets. Tents are not allowed.
- Dogs: friendly dogs on a leash are welcome. Dogs off leash are not.
- Food and drink: no coolers of any kind, no outside food and no outside alcohol. Alcohol must be bought on site from a designated vendor and is served in that vendor’s logo plastic cup.
- Containers: no glass bottles, cups or containers. The Carpool listing adds cans to the list.
- Smoke: none. The whole City Center is smoke-free, and that covers cigarettes, cigars, pipes and vaping devices.
- Wheels: no scooters, bikes, skates or skateboards in the amphitheater.
- Games: balls must be put away once the music starts. Beach balls are the only exception, and throwing or kicking anything else during a show is prohibited.
Anything left behind is treated as abandoned and thrown away. Dogs must stay off the turf for bathroom use, and owners clean up at the waste stations. Because outside food is banned, plan dinner at one of the City Center’s restaurants before the show rather than packing a picnic.
Where do you park, and is it free?
Parking is free, in a five-level deck and in surface lots, according to the City Center’s parking rules. The deck has handicap parking and an elevator. There are also a few bike racks and golf-cart spaces, but golf carts and other motorized devices are not allowed on the boardwalk or the walkways.
On a show night, park only in marked spaces. Cars outside them are towed by Cumming Police at the owner’s expense, and there is no parking during posted road or lot closures and events. Parallel-parked cars must face the direction of traffic in the nearest lane. Overnight parking is allowed only in the deck and the overflow lots off Bulldog Way, and any vehicle left more than 24 hours is towed. The deck’s space count and height clearance are not published. See our parking guide for the downtown square.
Is every fall 2026 show free?
Here is every dated music listing at the amphitheater, from the City Center calendar:
- Sat., Oct. 17, 8 to 10 PM: Carpool, a tribute to The Cars. The show follows the Georgia vs. Auburn game, and the listing warns the start may move by about 30 minutes. Free admission and parking.
- Fri., Oct. 23, 7 to 9 PM: Murder of Crowes, a nine-piece Black Crowes tribute from Chattanooga. Free admission and parking.
- Fri., Oct. 30, 7 to 9 PM: Clapton Comes Alive, an Atlanta-based Eric Clapton tribute that covers his whole career in two hours. Free admission and parking.
- Sat., Oct. 31, 8 to 9:30 PM: Nightshades, a Halloween-night rock show with dancers, billed by the performers as an immersive rock opera.
- Sat., Nov. 7, 4 to 7 PM: the 2nd Annual Cumming Bourbon and Blues Festival, with tastings, blues music and an artisan market, rain or shine.
- Sat., Nov. 7, 7:30 to 9:30 PM: The Page Brothers Band, a band of brothers playing Southern blues-rock and Georgia soul. Free admission and parking.
The two listings that read differently
Nightshades. Our events check on Oct. 17 recorded this listing as silent on price. When we reopened it later the same day, it carried the line “Free admission & free parking” along with the usual rules. It is not described as part of the Fall Concert Series, so check the listing again before you go.
Bourbon and Blues. A ticket is needed only for the 21+ tastings of bourbon, wine and beer. The listing says you do not need one if you are not tasting. It links to a ticket page but does not state a price, so we don’t either. The festival benefits Launch Ability, a local nonprofit that provides job coaches for people with disabilities. The listing names no specific bands.
Nov. 7 is the one double bill of the season. The festival ends at 7 PM and The Page Brothers Band starts on the same stage at 7:30 PM. The listings are separate and neither ties the two together, but one parking spot covers both.
What else is on the amphitheater calendar?
- Sat., Oct. 24, 8 PM: a free Movies Alfresco family film on the big screen, with snacks and drinks for sale. The listing’s title and body name two different Addams Family films, so we don’t name it.
- Wed., Nov. 11, 11 AM to 12:30 PM: the Veterans Day Ceremony by American Legion Post 307 and the City of Cumming, with a keynote and music by local students. It is rain or shine. Sit on the seat wall or bring a lawn chair.
- Sat., Nov. 21, 6 PM: the City Center Christmas Tree Lighting, with a holiday concert. The City lists the venue as the City Center, not the amphitheater itself. See our holiday guide.
For everything else this month, downtown and at the City Center, see what’s on.
What is behind the stage?
The Cumming Veterans War Memorial. The City’s memorial page says Mayor Troy Brumbalow and City leadership decided in 2023 to move it from 301 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, one block from the square, to the City Center. Parts of the original were relocated or recreated. It now stands around the reflecting pool at the rear of the amphitheater.
The memorial has plaques honoring the three national veterans service organizations with chapters in Forsyth County: the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans of America. It also has descriptions of every major conflict from the Civil War to today. It is open to the public year-round.
The City holds its Memorial Day ceremony here at 11 a.m. on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, with the Avenue of Flags. Each flag is dedicated to a veteran who served on active duty. The 2027 ceremony has not been announced. By the City’s rule it would fall on May 28, 2027, but that date is worked out, not published. On a concert night, come early and walk the memorial in daylight.
When are the grounds open?
Amphitheater hours vary with the events schedule. For the common areas, the Visit Us page gives two schedules that don’t match. One says 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. from March to October and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. from November to February. Another says 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from September to November. If you plan to linger after a late show, follow the posted signs.
Questions about the City Center and its concerts
Is the Cumming City Center the same as downtown Cumming?
No. Historic downtown is the courthouse square, with City Hall, the 1915 bandstand and the old schoolhouse that now holds the School Street Playhouse. The Cumming City Center is a separate district the City built at 423 Canton Road (State Route 20 West), about 1.5 miles west of downtown and behind Forsyth Central High School. It has shops, restaurants, the Lou Sobh Amphitheater and trails. Most visitors see both.

Who owns the Cumming City Center and when did it open?
The City of Cumming built the City Center and owns its buildings, which it leases to shops and restaurants. The City says that lease income helps it avoid a municipal property tax. Ground was broken on Aug. 8, 2019. The City held a ribbon cutting on June 24, 2022 and said it was not a grand opening but the start of tenant build-outs, so the businesses opened one at a time after that.

How big is the Cumming City Center and what is there?
The City describes about 75 acres between Canton Highway and Sawnee Drive. The plan includes about 117,000 square feet of retail space and the Lou Sobh Amphitheater beside a reflection pool. There is also a fountain ringed by engraved bricks, pocket parks, a putting course, a steam engine display, and boardwalks over the Kelly Mill Branch wetlands. The City Center's directory lists restaurants, boutiques and offices.

Are concerts at the Lou Sobh Amphitheater free?
Yes, the City Center's concerts have free general admission and free parking. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and friendly dogs on a leash are welcome. Tents, coolers, outside food or alcohol, glass, smoking and vaping are not allowed. Scooters, bikes and skates can't come into the amphitheater during shows, and balls must be put away once the music starts.

Both are on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026 at the Cumming City Center. The Winter/Holiday Market opens at 10 AM with more than 100 vendors, Santa photos, live music and a kids' zone, and admission is free. The City Center page says the market runs until 6 PM and the City calendar says 5 PM. The tree lighting follows at 6 PM with a holiday concert.

Is there a farmers market in Cumming?
Yes. The Cumming Farmers Market runs Saturdays from 8 to 11 AM in the Vision Parkway lot at the Cumming City Center, on the left as you enter from Canton Highway. The City Center calendar lists market Saturdays through Dec. 19, 2026, with no Nov. 28 date. Vendors sell produce, local meat, eggs and honey, baked goods, plants and crafts. No 2027 dates are posted yet.
Are dogs allowed at the Cumming City Center?
Yes, on a leash and under control. Leashed pets are welcome in most outdoor areas, including pocket parks, trails, boardwalks, open green space and public patios, and friendly leashed dogs can come to concerts. Each business decides whether pets may come inside. Pets may not relieve themselves on the turf, and owners must clean up at the pet waste stations. Note that dogs are banned on Sawnee Mountain Preserve trails.
